What Does a Rewire Involve?

All home rewires are carried out in accordance with regulations and safety standards. 

  • Site survey and assessment to determine if a partial or full rewire is required, which may include a full EICR
  • A full quotation 
  • Removal of all existing wires and installation of new cables into desired locations 
  • Chasing out the walls and lifting floor boards to get our new cables into place. The cables are then capped and boxed, ready for second fix
  • Second fixing the property - Installation of all new socket/switches, light fittings and installing the new consumer unit
  • Making good/filling the chases ready for decoration
  • Full testing procedure is carried out
  • Issuing of an electrical certificate upon completion

A: The cost of rewiring a house tends to vary depending on your requirements and the size of the property. Our guide prices start at the following figures:

1 bed from £1750+vat
2 bed from £3000+vat
3 bed from £4000+vat
4 bed from £5250+vat
5 Bed + from £6000+vat

Q: How disruptive is rewiring a house?

A: Rewiring can be a messy process and cause some disruption, the use of dust sheets is key to cover any assets to avoid damage. We make sure to clean up at the end of each day if the property is occupied. A clean work environment is a happy work environment.

Q: How long will a rewire take?

A: All rewires vary depending on access and ease of installation. Generally, a 3 bedroom house would take approximately 5-7days, however, we can give you a more accurate estimation of the time scale upon inspection.

Q: Can we live in the house while work is carried out?

A: In short, yes. However, if the property is occupied while the process is carried out it will take us longer and disruption to power is inevitable. There is also an increased cost with rewiring an occupied house, due to the increased timescale.
