Solar Panel Installation for Two New Build Homes in Basingstoke, Berkshire
At Imperial Electrical Solutions, we recently completed the installation of two complete solar PV systems on a pair of newly constructed four-bedroom homes in Basingstoke. Both properties were built on the same development, allowing our team to efficiently complete both installations in a single day while maintaining the high standards we're known for.
As an MCS-certified solar installer, we work closely with developers and homeowners to design renewable energy systems that are reliable, efficient and fully compliant with current regulations.

Solar Installation Overview
Each property received its own bespoke solar PV and battery storage system, designed to maximise energy generation while blending seamlessly into the appearance of the new homes.
Property One
The first property was fitted with:
- 6 × Jinko Tiger Neo 455W all-black N-Type solar panels
- GSE in-roof mounting system for a sleek, integrated finish
- Fox ESS H1 G2 3.68kW Hybrid Inverter
- Fox ESS EP6 5.76kWh battery storage system
- Generation meter and all required AC/DC isolation equipment
- Full MCS-compliant labelling and certification
This system provides approximately 2.73kWp of solar generation capacity, making it an excellent solution for a modern family home while allowing excess daytime generation to be stored for use later in the evening.
This upgrade significantly improved both safety and fault isolation—minimising disruption in the event of an issue.
Property Two
The neighbouring property received a larger system consisting of:
- 10 × Jinko Tiger Neo 455W all-black N-Type solar panels
- 1 × AIKO Neostar 465W all-black panel
- GSE in-roof mounting system
- Fox ESS H1 G2 3.68kW Hybrid Inverter
- Fox ESS EP6 5.76kWh battery storage system
- Generation meter and all required safety equipment
With a total array size of approximately 5.02kWp, this installation will generate a significant proportion of the home's annual electricity requirements while reducing reliance on the National Grid.
Why We Use GSE In-Roof Systems
Rather than installing traditional on-roof rails, both properties benefited from a GSE integrated in-roof mounting system.
This style of installation replaces a section of roof tiles with a purpose-built weatherproof mounting system, allowing the solar panels to sit flush with the roofline. The finished appearance is clean, modern and particularly well suited to new build developments where aesthetics are just as important as performance.
Battery Storage for Greater Energy Independence
Both homes were fitted with Fox ESS EP6 battery storage systems.
Instead of exporting all surplus solar energy back to the grid, the battery stores unused electricity generated during the day so it can be used during the evening, overnight or on cloudy days. This helps homeowners maximise their self-consumption, reduce electricity bills and make better use of the energy their solar panels generate.
Installed in Just One Day
Thanks to careful planning and the experience of our installation team, both complete solar systems were installed in a single day.
Working on new build developments requires good coordination with other trades and strict adherence to programme deadlines. Our team ensured the installations were completed efficiently without compromising on quality, leaving both properties ready for final commissioning and handover.
